Jola House 3rd Annual Graduation Ceremony and Fundraiser
Jola House is celebrating its 3rd Annual Graduation Ceremony and fundraiser on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at 4 p.m., Bernard Farm, Paynesville, Liberia. Jola House has been operating for almost four years and we strive to expand and develop the program to help improve opportunities in the community. At this year’s graduation we are excited to promote 60 students. To date we have trained more than 100 women. Our program has helped 65% of them go on to start their own business or work internationally recognized Liberian fashion manufacturers like The Bombchel Factory and Jamco. Our remaining graduates have stayed on to form the Jola House cooperative. The group’s products are featured in the Grand Royal and other retail outlets in Greater Monrovia.
Post Ebola Recovery
Jola House was deeply affected by the Ebola outbreak in 2014. In early 2015, Jola House began re-training team members after a loss of 50% of our trainees during the Ebola disease outbreak. Starting from an initial group of 25, Jola House expanded the training program to include over 60 new trainees in our Fall 2016 commencement. Our projected growth for 2016/2017 is to graduate 100 trainees.
We are pleased to announce that Jola House has been accepted into the Branson Scholarship Program. Sponsored by Virgin United, the foundation of the Virgin Group. The Branson Scholarship Liberia program is designed to provide business management and technical assistance to Liberian entrepreneurs and small business owners.
